Beautiful! Why can't I ever find these jewels??? :?:
|
wow, that is a beautiful piece, furniture & sewing machine. I'm with Eddie, why can't I find something like that!
|
The story behind this lovely machine is. I went to visit my Aunt in New York. She is 81 years old. I took her with me on a road trip to a quilt shop that a fellow quilter told me about on the cat room.
Upon returning back to her house, I oiled and got the machine running smoothly. I went out to check on my husband who was brush hogging for our uncle, and came back into the house and she was cleaning out the cabinet. I asked her what she was doing and she said "this is going home with you". She has two daughters that don't sew, so I now have another machine. This makes 4 singers. I have one more to come my way, which is still at my mother's house. |
What a great gift! Enjoy it!
|
What a beauty. You are so lucky to have it.

What a beautiful machine MQ.

I remember my paternal grandmother sewing on a machine like this. I was fascinated at how the treadle going could pull the needle & thread through to sew the fabrics. She made clothes, quilts, and anything imaginable on her Singer.
Flashback: I was in a First Grade Play, as a Butterfly. She made me a yellow Butterfly costume with attachable Wings. She made the upper bodice unit too small & I got stuck when she tried to take it off over my head. I started panicking & felt suffocated. I was maybe 6 yo then & to this day cannot stand to have anything tight around my throat & neck area. |
What a wonderful gift you received! :D
