Most likely the feed dogs just need oil to get unstuck. Sometimes the oil has to sit for quite awhile in order to penetrate.

Even if the feed dogs never drop, you can probably still use the machine for FMQ. You can set stitch length to 0 and leave the feed dogs up; some quilters prefer it that way! Or, you can make a plastic cover for the feed dogs to tape in place. Some machines have feed dog covers for this purpose; a homemade feed dog cover can work just as well.

yeah they still won't lower :( I'll have the guy look at it. maybe i'll have to have that 1 thing fixed but that's still not bad. it looks brand spankin new otherwise! not even any lint in the machine!

ok so i'm a dork and this machine needs a cover in order to free motion to cover up the feed dogs. I thought turning the wheel to 0 would lower the feed dogs and the repair man said "are you lowering the feed dogs?" i said "i'm turning the wheel to 0 and nothing is happening" he laughed and said I was chaning the presser foot pressure. duh! I just ordered a foot plate cover and then I should be all set :)
