Skateboard Quilt
2 Attachment(s)
I saw this on You Tube from Jenny Doan of Missouri Star quilt Company. I needed a guy quilt for a donation. We had mostly girl quilts. I guess our group all tend to buy flowers or girly colors. I didn’t have too many boy fabrics but I think these worked out okay. I used the Royal Smoothie fabric from Marshall’s Dry Goods like I did on the Prairie Flower. You will see a lot of blue backs as I bought a bolt!-lol-The new Dragon fabric I got for $2 at a Thrift Shop and still have a yard or more of it. I hope some young guy likes it this Christmas. It’s 64 x 75 so good teenager size.
Thanks to all of you commenting on my recent finish of Papa’s Delight and Prairie Flower. I appreciate your support-Have a nice night-Toogie |
What a cute quilt. Some kid will love it.

Oh I just love your quilt! The first time I went to a Project Linus meeting, I brought a skateboard quilt to donate/. Oh the oooohs and ahhhhs during show and tell! It's a great pattern even tho a little fussy. I'm busy making Dr Seuss quilts now but the skateboard quilt is next on my list....for boys! Job well done!!! Job well done!!

That's adorable Toogie!

Very cute! Someone is going to love it.

I think it will be appreciated. It looks very crisp.

Toogie you hit the ball out of the park again! Some young man will love this, you do amazing work, do you ever sleep?
|
Sew cute for a young man. This would have been perfect for my GS years ago. The thought skateboards were the only way to travel
|
That is very cute and colorful!
|
Toogie, that's fantastic!
I'm also wondering when you sleep https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png |
What a great guy quilt and the fabrics were perfect, especially the flames! I, too, wonder if you ever sleep. I sew almost every day for 4-6 hours and can't accomplish half of what you do. What type of machine do you quilt on? I have a Tiara II but meandering is my least favorite quilt design to do, so that slows me up too, ugh.

I assure you I do sleep, although not as good as when I was young. I once worked at a sewing factory so I am used to sewing fast. I see at the highest speed a home machine will go, just wish I had a commercial machine like Donna Jordan. I have a Queen Quilter Eighteen, second hand. It was a one owner and she gave me her paperwork. It’s a sit down manuel, no bells and whistles machine, no electronics but I love it. I have made King size on down but most are meander like this one. I did do ruler quilting grid, on a large about 65x80 Sunflower panel quilt, for my oldest granddaughter. If I quilted something small I may would try fancier quilting but I really can’t maneuver a large King or Queen to have enough control to be precise with a design. I quilt for my family or donations and so far as I know, everyone is happy. The lady did tell me it was mounted with a frame in the showroom but she didn’t have the room for it and had the dealer remount in a table. I like to sew every day or embroider but don’t always get to.-Toogie |
Same here- not enough 'boy' donation quilts. I've had this pattern on my 'to-do' list and seeing your handsome quilts inspires me to move this pattern up the list - nicely done!

Fantastic!!! That's so cool!!! That will surely make someone really happy!
