These are some bags I made from the "Snap Happy" bag pattern. They are cute and fun to make.

Is this the pattern that uses part of horizontal shades? What do you use them for? The fabric is adorable.

These are the ones that use the metal measuring tape. I plan to use the halloween ones and put treats in them for a couple of special children I know.

quiltstodo 10-10-2011 02:06 PM

How Cute. These have been on my to do list for awhile. Your Halloween one's gave me an idea for the trick or treaters since we give pencils and candy I could make them pencil box shaped.

ZTAgirlknits 10-10-2011 02:06 PM

How funny! I totally just got that pattern this weekend but in a bigger "purse" form! Did you just cut up a measuring tape for that part or can you buy pieces somewhere? Yours are adorable!

noahscats7 10-10-2011 02:06 PM

I use mine as a catch all in my purse. I put lipstick, dental floss, brush, etc. in it. I think you'd have to make a smaller version with a shorter metal tape for the top if you want to put coins in it.

quiltsillysandi 10-10-2011 02:08 PM

Love this little pattern..I used to make them and give them as door prizes when I was teaching line dancing!! Great, great little bags......

FYI I get the mesureing tape at the dollar store you have to have masking tape and some way to curve the ends sharp scissors work but dont use your sewing sissors and once you cut the end of the tape make sure you lock the tape mesure or pull it all the way out and cut that way not pretty if it rolls inside :-)

These are so cute. I have this pattern, but have not made any. Hmmm, maybe this should move up in my project line (smile). Love the idea of using them for trick or treat bags. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I just used a dollar store measuring tape and cut it up with an old pair of scissors. In one of them I doubled up on the tape and it seemed like a stronger close. I was thinking of making a larger version for a cosmetic bag.

hperttula123 10-10-2011 03:23 PM

Those are cute. I've gotta make some of those.

I'm coming trick-or-treating to your house!

RuthFru 10-10-2011 06:45 PM

I love that pattern too. I have even made them bigger and taped 2 pieces of the metal rule together for each side to make it work better.

debbieumphress 10-10-2011 10:58 PM

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with us. Those are such cute bags.

Patched 10-11-2011 01:39 AM

Really cute. Got a lot done.

noahscats7 10-11-2011 04:35 AM

Great idea. I never thought about doubling the metal tape. I made a larger one and used 8" of tape but it just didn't have the "SNAP".

I find if the tape isn't long enough that will happen. To much space between the tape and the seam line.Connie in CO.PS i like to square up my corners.I have pictures.Connie in CO

When you double the tape do you tape them together or just tape the ends to keep them from poking through the fabric?

dkabasketlady 10-11-2011 06:13 AM

Very cute!!

I just taped the ends together. It made it a little sturdier. If I was doing a larger bag I might tape it together in the middle as well. As it is I don't think they'll come apart. Thanks.

Found the bag in Sisters Ore. At Jean Wells store and bought it quickly. They were disappearing fast. Those are just darling. Great bags..and how many tapes did you use..? Lol!

Sew Krazy Girl 10-11-2011 11:00 PM

For all the ones pictured I use just one tape. I think I cut the lenghts at about 7" so I got quite a few out of one tape. Love to see yours when you get one done.
