That looks great! How are you getting that inprint look to it? I haven't seen that before.

Jim's Gem 04-01-2009 04:06 PM

Looks beautiful. You have a lot of quilting in that one!!! Is that Trapunto? or just looks like it because of all the quilting stitches?

BlueChicken 04-01-2009 04:18 PM

That looks gorgeous! Can't wait to see the rest.

Well done for doing such an amazing job for your friend, she'll be thrilled.

That is gorgeous! How are you doing the imprint - something new. Looks great and I'm sure your friend will love it to help her in this trying time.

Shelley 04-01-2009 04:33 PM

It's faux trapunto, with a pebble background. I have two layers of wool batting under each of these blocks, the rest of the quilt has just the one main layer. Each block takes about an hour to quilt. The pebbles are little circles of stitching, most are about 1/4" across, some smaller, some larger. I have a total of 17 blocks to quilt, I have 5 done. I'm working on two quilts at once, trading it back and forth on the longarm with another quilt. The other is the library raffle quilt (pictures on my blog).

I love it!! I have never seen the faux trapunto (spelling) before. It looks really neat and sounds very time consuming!

Your quilting is outstanding! At first I though it was imprinted, then I realized it was probably faux trapunto. Funny how our eyes play tricks on us Your friend will love it.

Having gone through your friend's journey last summer, I understand a bit of it. But I don't have 10 year old twins, and I have a husband/caregiver. I hope she has lots of friends to drive her to chemo and/or radiation and to fix meals and help around the house. She'll need it! How far along in treatment is she? Is there a BC support group nearby? Some women don't seek help, but they really need it, especially if they don't have an adult living with them. My heart goes out to her. PM me if she could use an Email buddy. I had a lot of Email buddies when I made this journey, and that really helped.

Joanne,

I haven't seen her for a few weeks. My 9yo (who has the triplets in her class) said that her hair has fallen out. She has lots of support. I think her ex has actually been pretty good.

Glad to hear about the support - and about her ex. My offer to be an Email buddy stands at any time. Maybe mention it when you give her the quilt.
