as for NOT quilting the snowmen..you really should.that will be quite a large area to NOT quilt...to make the snowmen puff up, just put more batting under them. But I would at least shadow/outline their basic parts!

SEW beautiful. If you are planning a red border and quilt binding, I would use a red thread to quilt or even green if you want a contrasting color not one that blends in.
