Wow that's perty!!! You always do such beautiful stuff...I think you should adopt me and be my mentor LOL. I don't eat much...really I don't

i won't bother to adopt you. i can't claim you on my tax return.
BUT, if you don't mind being totally corrupted by a warped mind, i'll be glad to take you under my wing. c'mon over anytime. |

I've got lots of HSTs here, I'll gladly share them with you! :) LOL They are all about 1 inch - 1 1/2 inches. I don't think I will ever make a doll quilt or miniature pieced quilt, but I just can't throw them out! |
I like warped  We can work with warped and corrupt LOL
I'll bring the coffee and chocolate! |
wow, patrice, I really love that and I don't especially love triangles, but you really came up with something great.
Do you work with triangles a lot or just wanted to do something different this time? I'm going to paint my living room when it warms up. These colors would go great. I'm gonna do the walls in a gold faux look and accent with black and cream. My curtains have copper and tomato. So, if your really sick of hst's...lol! |
I gotta ask, I have had an awful time doing a very thin border like this on my granddaughters quilt. How did you get yours so precise? would be so grateful to know a 'trick', cause I sure ain't finished yet. C
|
the block borders you see are made from 1" strips. they are not continuous strips. i cut my fabric into fat quarters first, then cut my strips. i find it easier to control the ruler and blade over the shorter distances. since the blocks are approximately 15" finished, i cut from the 18" side of the FQs and trim off the excess AFTER i've sewn the strips to the blocks.
when it comes time to make the borders to go around the whole top, i'll probably cheat. that is, i'll cut strips across the whole width of the border fabric, but cut them a half-inch wider than the intended size. once they're sewn and pressed, i'll carefully square them back to the proper width. (unless by some miracle it's actually straight all the way around, in which case I'll "change my mind" about the width of that particular border. why look a gift horse in the mouth? ) |

Patrice IS a teacher. Just look at some of her earlier posts. I am trying to get her to keep this one. Or send it to me. tim in san jose |
thanks, patrice.i have bookmarked this for the next time i do a thin border. If i had waited to cut the excess i would have had more fabric to square up with if necessary. I think your right. Working with the fq sizes has got to be easier to handle. It really is a beautiful piece of work. :D

Fabulous!! I love it.

tim in san jose as we discussed the dilemna, i don't know how, but she managed to talk me into promising and making her two instead of just one. i'm not miffed at her for it, though, because she still doesn't have either one.   |
WOW is right!!!!! The colors are awesome together!
|
What is holding up the blocks? That looks interesting.
I love your mineral rights quilt. Who wouldn't? It is to die for. Very very nice patrice. |
So....any updated pics for us? I'm loving this and it is soooo precise. I should try practicing more to eventually have a hope to turn out this good...

|
WOW b e a yoootiful! So intricate and precise!
|
I am more than impressed with these blocks. This is going to be a very awesome quilt. So what's the current status here? We are all anxious to see more, I'm sure.
|
That is certainly a lot of half square triangles. No wonder you are getting tired of them!! :D But they are turning out so lovely. Keep sharing with us as you get further along.
|
BEEE-YOU-TEE-FULL! Waiting to see follow-up pics!
|
very nice colours
|
Wow! That looks so precise! If only I could do such good work!
|
Lotsa triangles! Beautiful points. Love the little strips of black separating each square - gives them both definition and cohesion. Thinking about doing this in scrappy.
|
That is gorgeous, love the colors
|
Can't wait to see more.....
