There are a few people who have asked questions about putting minkee on the long arm frame.....
I guess when I first put it on I didn't have any hesitations or worry....I have used all kinds of minkee from regular soft minkee to shaggy teddy bear minkee...and I have never had a problem. SOme people have said to use the selvage edge to pin to the frame because it doesn't stretch as much..they are correct...but most times that I put minkee on it is longer more than wide ( I don't enjoy piecing minkee at all..so I try to keep it as it came off the bolt as much as possible) I don't enjoy piecing minkee because it is slick and it is hard on my DM. If it is really stretchy minkee I just don't tighten it as much on the rollers....I just leave it fairly loose and I haven't had any problems. I have used it probably a couple dozen times...all of my family ( I have a huge family) and friends all have quilts with minkee on the back. There is also brand of minkee called "Cuddle" minkee and it doesn't stretch as much and it is easier to work with if you are worried about all the movement and stretching. I hope that helps you. If you have any other questions just PM me and I will be happy to help you. Thanks! |
