Some Eye Candy from the Chicago Quilt Show

10 Attachment(s)
My BFF and I went to the Chicago Quilt Show - it was her first time at a large show. I'm not photographer and did not do justice to these quilts. The work was outstanding. While we were there, supposedly an announcement was put on the website for the Chicago show that the show will not be in Chicago next year. I have not been able to find it. They moved it to Cincinnati for a couple of years and then came back to Chicago. If this is true, I'm so glad I got my BFF there.

My standard reaction to these kinds of quilts is that what I do and what these people do should have two different names! These just . . .. well, I can't find the words.

such beautiful quilts...thanks for sharing

Tartan 03-30-2019 02:15 PM

Great quilts but the quilting, outstanding!

Awesome quilts! I can only dream about doing something like these. Thanks for sharing. There must have been many, many more that took your breath away.

Thanks for sharing!! I was not able to come to the show this year. I have rarely missed it since the beginning in Chicago. It is a wonderful show and I am sad to see it move on.

Gorgeous quilts!! Thanks so much for sharing. The applique in the Blue/White one is amazing. Can't imagine how many hours involved in piecing and quilting these. And the hexie and 9P is phenomenal...

Thank you for sharing these with us!

Thanks for the show! Truly amazing quilts!

It's sad to hear of the end of quilt shows. We had the Rocky Mountain quilt show in Loveland, Co. shut down this past year. I understand the booth cost vs. profit margin is one of the reason vendors can't continue to support them. Declining attendance is another. It's sad to see them close and hopefully something else will pop up to take their place. These show quilts are always a delight and inspiration to see. You may see one and think I can do that!! Thanks for posting these photos.

Fantastic quilts for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Thank for for sharing these pictures. The quilts are truly wonderful. I am taken by the wonderful ruler work quilting in several of them. I also am sorry to see quilt shows close. I also am sad to see the Rocky Mountain Quilt Show in Loveland be closed.

Beautiful quilt show and thank you so much for sharing. I got to go to a quilt show and didn't even leave the house!!
I took my BFF to her first quilt show one time too and she was so in awe and enjoyed it so much.

That blue and white quilt is amazing. Reminds me of delftware. The quilting on it is fantastic. Is that the one that won BOS or was it the equally amazing art quilt posted right above that fades from yellow to red to purple?

Thank you for taking the time to post some pics of the show! Love to see them. Gets me excited for the two shows coming up that I am attending. One is MQX and they always have amazing stuff with all the major quilters (I reverently refer to as the "big dogs") submitting quilts. The other is a local show that only allows guild members to enter.

SusieQOH 03-31-2019 12:38 PM

Omg, what wonderful quilts! Thanks for sharing with us.

MicheleC 03-31-2019 01:58 PM

Those are stunning quilts. Thank you for sharing. It’s nice to see things like this even if one is too far away to attend.

Isn't that the truth!!! Theirs is Rembrandt and mine is a happy face!! :D

My DH and I went to the Mountain Quilt Show in Pigeon Forge, TN. a couple of weeks ago. The quilts are beautiful, and my comment is " I'm glad I'm not a judge." You would see the ones with ribbons and turn around to see another beauty. Thank you for sharing your pictures. We both forgot to take any photos. lol

Thanks for sharing with us. As much as the traditional quilts are "to die for", my vote goes to that last picture of the paint brush. Whomever designed this is a true artist, IMHO. At first glance, looks like simple construction. But upon careful study, this quilt is very complex. So unique ... I love it.

BoltandBobbin 04-01-2019 06:34 AM

Oh my. How lovely! The time, talent, and patience these take is beyond me. :o

Sallybear6 04-01-2019 07:51 AM

A beautiful variety of quilts!

Our's are down too, but I rarely attend anymore myself. Why? Because there are very few real quilts that would actually be used. I know some folks who no longer enter due to the the same thing. A lot of work for nothing. I say separate the shows. Have one for Art and one for Quilts. But Never mix the two in judging etc.

rosiewell 04-01-2019 03:36 PM

it is humbling and inspiring to see these beautiful quilts, thanks for sharing

Thank You for the show. It was beautiful. The dedication these people must have is mind-blowing. Wish i could find some.

Such beautiful quilts. The seventh picture down is "Jack's Chain Quilt", which has been discussed on other threads here. I enjoyed all of them.

Amazing. I'm looking at the 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th photos of the same pattern. I want to make this quilt, does anyone know what the pattern is called? Thank you. Vanessa
