those are really nice.............It seems to give you contact with the people who loveingly created them. My other hobby is genealogy , you get to know things about your family, makes them live for you, just like a quilt does

Never have I seen a quilt actually quilted with yarn. What treasures. I have some old family quilts I love. And, Ruth, I am a genealogy nut as well.

I am lucky, and I know it! I have a lot more quilts to post for you guys. DH's g-Granny waited until she died to let anyone have her quilts. She would get them out and show us and tell us the price. :lol:
Her g-daughter that was in charge of giving the G-G grandkids (my kids) their quilts, well, she didn't give us the better ones. I'm thankful for the ones we did get, though! They'll be up soon. It takes me forever to upload pics. I think I will only upload one at a time from now on.

I loved her quilts. Clint has a couple out here. I know, I always remember her showing all of her quilts and giving us prices. At that time, we didn't have the extra money to buy all of the ones we wanted, because we would have taken all of them. LOL. Now I wish we would have. I love the one that she quilted with yarn. That is so creative. I still can't believe she is gone.... :(

:lol: Granny was a "character"! I can't believe she's been gone over a year. We never had the extra cash, either. Her minimum was $300, I think. She was mostly in the $600-range, or telling about how she got that for them all the time when so-and-so took them somewhere for her! :D
She did such wonderful work. I wish I still had the opportunity to go visit her and be "force fed" cake with freshly picked cherries or homemade wine or something! She always thought everyone needed to be fed! :)

Wow! I never liked yarn to tie with.........but hers are a work of art. I can't imagine how long it took to quilt it.

and YES, those are stains toward the bottom. Just the way we received it. I am guessing it is iron stains. We just recently got city water here, last fall.
And this is one of the ones she sent to ohio (I think) to have machine quilted.

I have an "old maid" quilt that my great aunt made for me. She figured I was in my late 20s and I'd never get married but I should have one of her quilts. :lol: I feel so lucky to have one of her quilts.

Those are all just gorgeous, and so inspiring. I better get started. I'm still trying to get moved into this house. So I'm lothe to start a new mess when I'm not yett finished with the old one. Still trying to Paint, decorate and arrange. ;}

This past January made us two years in our new home my DH built. I have not gotten the kitchen painted. It's a flat white, just as well say it's a primer. I got the paint about a year ago, but it is semi-gloss, and my little boy has asthma. I've GOT to get him out of here for a day and get to work! We're unfinished. WE have no baseboards in most of the house. I don't have many pictures or artwork up. I just got my DD's curtains up yesterday. I finished them a few days ago. no window sills or framing up, yet.... Hubby is busy working...I can live unfinished...we were in a trailer. It will all happen, eventually. Don't give up! I haven't, yet. Sometimes it does get hard and really aggravating, but we'll get it. someday

another one...this has some really silky feeling material in it and for the backing. it tears easily.

Soooooooo beautiful!! I would give my eye teeth (good ole WV saying, right?) to have some of the quilts from my ancestors. Being a girl child I got pots/pans set of glasses and a pitcher, and a planter from dad's family. sigh The good stuff went to all the male grands or the male children. But I'm not bitter, at least I HAVE something from back then.

But your quilts are so so so so beautiful. Can you tell me more about eh quilting with yarn? Was it all pieced with yarn, too? hmmm, must have taken a year.
