I took the liberty of bookmarking...these look fantastic and my middle step-son recently asked if I would make him one with his vast collection of treasured T's.

They are a little more time consuming - but the best tip I have is to make sure to back the shirts with interfacing BEFORE you cut.

The shirts are just too stretchy otherwise.

It's a great way to keep all those shirts that don't fit and still make them useful...

I did one for my DD (sorority shirts). Your shirts quilts are wonderful. She loves hers but it was sure a learning experience.

Wow, cool ideas thanks for sharing!

I have some teddy bear t-shirts, now I know what to do with them. What type of interfacing do you use?

Karen,

Sadly, I use whatever I can find as cheapest at that moment. Joann's had a black friday/saturday sale on some pretty thin stuff and I stocked up on that. It's *really* thin, but it still keeps the tshirts from stretching. I used that stuff on the student quilt - I've also been using it for bags, but I've found I need to line both the outer shell and the lining for it to "work" like it should.

=)

A suggestion I got from someone was to use unterfacing on all the fabric you use in the quilt, sashing etc. What do you think?
