I've been experimenting with various sizes and styles of tote bags. Here are three that I have made recently. The blue one was a pattern I got off a website. The stripy one I just made up using left over scraps, and green, yellow, pink one was a test D9P I was playing with and didn't know what to do with. Decided on this tote bag.

The finished size of the red, white, and blue bag is 15" x 15 1/2" x 5. It is a down-loadable pattern from allpeoplequilts.com This is the link:

Love your tote bags. About the only thing constant about the ones I make is the length of the handles - I like them long. Some totes are long and narrow, some are wide and short, etc. Depends on the fabric. You did so well with yours.

Thank you for the nice comments. I enjoyed making these and I learned from my mistakes. I am thinking of making some to sell, but I have no idea how to go about it, or what to charge. Any suggestions?

Beautiful. I eventually want to branch out and make clothes from quilted materials. I love these tote bags.

Thank you. I enjoyed making them. I sent the striped one to my sister and she really loves it. She uses it for a lunch bag. the friends she eats teach sewing and want to use the idea for their class next year.

LOVE the Disappearing Nine Patch tote!

donfel 06-10-2010 12:52 PM

I made two D9P blocks a year or more ago, just to give it a try. When I wanted to make another tote they just happened to be the exact size I needed...so wha-la...it became a tote! How cool is that!
