oooooops ~ oh well, I agree, that's where you need to sign it in one, date it in the other! :)

janethagy 01-18-2011 10:19 AM

I had to really look for it before I found it.. Your quilt is beautiful too, If I could make mistakes like that and still have such a beautiful quilt I wouldnt worry about it..

luvTooQuilt 01-18-2011 10:25 AM

Its a ONE OF A KIND!!!!!

arbed31 01-18-2011 10:27 AM

Call it your "Humble Block". I like your quilt just as it is.

jbj137 01-18-2011 10:34 AM

What mistake??
I don't see a mistake.

IndyQuilter 01-18-2011 10:58 AM

This is your humility block. Only God makes things perfectly.

Barbie 01-18-2011 11:13 AM

I once worked with a group that made a raffle quilt. It was hanging in the front of a room full of people and low and behold the mistake in one of the blocks jumped out like a bolt of lightening. We very carefully ripped the area of the mistake. Fixed it by hand and requilted the area. It was tedious but we did fix it. However, if it doesn't bother you just leave it. Some cultures believe that you should always have an imperfection in your project so the "Gods" will not be mad. LOL.

amandasgramma 01-18-2011 11:19 AM

You really intended to have that happen, didn't you???!!!! Yes, you did -- because it's perfect otherwise and we don't want to show up other people...so we leave a mistake for them to say "oh look, she made a mistake and if she can make a mistake, I'll keep crafting"...yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it..... :)

debbieoh 01-18-2011 12:03 PM

Took me awhile to see what you are talking about LOL!! Not as bad as I did I did some of the fabric on a block backwards. LOL!!! and I don't drink.
Tell them you did to see if they really looked at your work
Debbie

We should always do that to make our quilt, One-Of-a-Kind.

N.J.linda 01-18-2011 02:16 PM

Either turn those blocks into your made by label, or turn it into a signature quilt, that way it looks like it was done intentionally.

gramarraine 01-18-2011 02:26 PM

My mother had a friend that pieced and hand quilted many quilts for people. She pieced a log cabin quilt and accidently turned one of the blocks the wrong way. She didn't notice the mistake until the quilt was completed and it was displayed at the wedding of the daughter she made it for and then it really jumped out at her. I think we are so close to our own work that we don't see some of the mistakes we make until too late to change them. Your quilt is very beautiful and you have done nice work.

luckylindy333 01-18-2011 02:45 PM

Ha-ha, it took me a long time to pick it out, and I like it! Thanks for sharing...

jljack 01-18-2011 03:09 PM

I don't think it is noticeable at all. Nobody looks at our quilts as closely as we do. In some far off generation, someone will look at it and say, "Hummm, I wonder why she decided to do it that way." So, you see, everyone who notices will think it was on purpose!!

eimay 01-18-2011 04:04 PM

It took several looks, (kind of like those compare the two pictures and find the difference) to find it. I'd probably go with the deep red binding.

oh - and any suggestions on color of binding?

I agree with a creme or tan. Also, it makes it unique to have the difference.....they will think you did it on purpose.

Nitegama 01-18-2011 04:46 PM

Remember in the early days of quilting in america, quilters always made an obvious "error" in a quilt...upside block etc. due to fact only God creates Perfection

fink9 01-18-2011 05:12 PM

Hard to notice it!!

HeatherS 01-18-2011 05:14 PM

I really had to look to find it. Why not name the quilt "Where's Wally"?

2livesdown7togo 01-18-2011 05:23 PM

I love this, but I confess I'd be out shopping for a permanent marker in blue LOL

Margie 01-18-2011 05:25 PM

sINCE it is in the center...it looks planned...I like it

anicra 01-18-2011 05:48 PM

It took me a while to find the humble block! It looks wonderful regardless!!

scubagal 01-18-2011 05:56 PM

Oh! I see it! I never would have noticed it if I hadn't kept staring at it after you pointed it out. I love it!

j-mae 01-18-2011 06:38 PM

I was told by someone a long time ago that every quilt has at least one mistake. Well honey, you found it!

It's a beautiful quilt and I would not think twice about mentioning it to anyone!

Anytime I make a mistake, I say nothing. If anyone points it out, (which is rather rude of them anyway!) I chuckle and tell them that little folk lure about every quilt having a mistake in it, and then I say to them, 'now you have found this quilts mistake, you have a very sharp eye!'

New knee 01-18-2011 06:40 PM

In the old days, women deliberately put a mistake in their quilt so it could be identified as theirs. And as the Amish say, "Only God is perfect."

pawebdoctor 01-18-2011 06:44 PM

Nah... you really meant to do that.
No mistake there... but I did have to look for the difference.

Carron 01-18-2011 06:44 PM

If any one asks why that one is different just say that it is a special block, unique just as is the designer. (It is your signature block.)
Had you not mentioned the mistake I would not have seen it and many people probably will never notice.
Nice quilt.

Rhonda 01-18-2011 06:44 PM

LOL When I read your message and looked for the one that is not the same I thought you could title this quilt

"Which one is not like the others?" A guessing game! LOL

It is a beautiful quilt nonetheless!!

kbs 01-18-2011 06:46 PM

Tell them you did it on purpose.

Tallulah 01-18-2011 06:53 PM

Don't point it out to anyone. I had to look and look to find it. We are our own worst critics. Nice work on this quilt!

Rettie V. Grama 01-18-2011 07:36 PM

Fancy Nancy, there is an old saying I learned from my mother when I was a girl and she taught me piecing and quilting. "Every quilt has one mistake. Only the maker can find it without searching and sometimes then the admirer can't find it." So just don't say anything and they may never know it wasn't supposed to be.

Annz 01-18-2011 07:53 PM

So what is wrong with the center block? If your not waorried about it getting dirty I would go for the cream color you have in the quilt for the binding.

wraez 01-18-2011 08:16 PM

Yup, you designed it that way on purpose, kinda like 'can you spy the different block'?

great quilt,

warm quilt hugs, sue in CA

IDquilter 01-18-2011 08:28 PM

as far as everyone is concerned that is how it is supposed to be, don't mention it and no one will notice.

JCL in FL 01-18-2011 08:53 PM

WE have all been there. It's a great quilt. I'd go with a tan biding like the color in the quilt.

pab58 01-18-2011 08:58 PM

No prob!!! It'll just be your humility block!  Love the quilt!!

sewingladydi 01-18-2011 09:04 PM

Call it "artistic license"

joan60 01-19-2011 05:46 AM

seems like I am always doing that and I include it, sometimes to just see if any one notices it. I agree with the saying of the amish on ly god makes them perfect we are just humans.

Fancy Nancy 01-19-2011 06:56 AM

you have all been so kind about my goof - yes, I do believe that it is more noticeable to me than it will be to others. I will definitely use one or all of your comments if anyone notices! Funny thing is - I never notice any mistakes that might be made in any quilts posted here - so guess unless you are actually told to look, your eyes just see the overall quilt - all of which on this board are just fantastic.

1barron 01-19-2011 06:58 AM

That just makes it unique. Nice.
