Back on April 5, or so, I posted looking for help on how to make the Songahm Star into a quilt block. BevF was kind enough to draw up a plan for me. It was based on a grid line paper. I had asked to have it about 12". However, I used what she created and increased everything by three. This now measures 50" x 50". My son absolutely loves it. I let him pick the backing. Then I put two labels on it. The label in the left corner is what the original picture I had to work from and that is what BevF used as well.
I can't wait to hang it on his wall. :-D Songahm Star quilt |
I remember seeing the original post and thinking-that is going to be tough. Wondered if it would come to be--wonderful quilt, great work and a big nod to BevF for helping you make this wonderful gift.

Very nice! There is a lot of symbolism in this block. :) And I love that backing fabric too! :)

You did a wonderful job! I bet he about jumped out of his skin with excitement when you showed it to him. Glad I could help you in your gift of love to him!

Thanks everyone. It was so nice when my 4 year old son said at nap today, "mom, can you bring my quilt in my room and hang it". So I have it hanging on his closet now. He layed down and turned toward it and said, "mom, that sure is a beautiful quilt". It made me so happy :)
