The pattern is made from a jelly roll. I got out of Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam & Nicky Lintott. It is a very easy strip piecing method. The black is cut into 40 -1 1/2" strips and sewn to the jelly roll strips. Then you pair them up and sew the jelly roll side right sides together making 20 strips. Then cut them 3 1/2" strips, match them up, sew them together into blocks and alternate direction. Very easy.

I've decided where this quilt is going. I have a family friend who comes over several times a week and helps my daughter with her math homework. She spends hours here and doesn't want to be paid for it. She says she "just wants her to get it". She has been so generous and she loves this quilt. So when it is done I will give it to her as a thank you. Now I am more excited then ever to have it quilted and done.

I really love bright colors on black. I made one for my son kind of like that. I have an Amish sampler I want to make . . . someday.

I just Love this quilt it is so Bright and the black really puts a poof! to it. Great work but it still looks complicated to me anyway of how you put it together. You did a Beautiful job. I have alot of pieces like that from a quilt that I started to cut to put together yet and I also have a few Jelly Rolls.

Love the colors, and I see it passed the "cat test" also. All mine must be cat tested also. Then they hit the washing machine before leaving the house!

What a beautiful quilt and what an unselfish and gracious way to say thank you to someone who is helping your daughter with her homework. On a personal note, I better check my Guild's library for Pam & Nicky Lintott's book or go find it on Amazon; which incidentally I have found some great used and clean book upon.
