Ironically enough, I chose the rose colored batik print as the inspiration and borders for this batik split rail. However, I really dislike it and now have decided to scrap the pink altogether and just border and bind with purple....which means getting out the seam ripper!

I like it better with the purple!

LeslieFrost 08-13-2011 11:11 AM

You are right -- the pink does not work. The rest is beautiful, however!

I like how it looks with the small bit of pink showing. There is pink in the quilt. Maybe you could cut the pink boarder smaller and add the purple to it.

I agree with Heather, how about a 1/2" border of the pink then the purple? sure would save a lot of ripping plus I like the little bit of pink

I thought about that...thanks for the feedback - much appreciated!

That is a good suggestion, and I second that motion. Easier to cut some off, than to do all that ripping. Love the quilt itself, and it will really pop with the purple border. I love purple.

I agree with the others. Having a thin inner border of the pink makes everything else sparkle even more. Beautiful quilt!

ncsewer 08-13-2011 12:06 PM

Yep, I agree. Something you were ready to hate, is going to be so beautiful!!

caliquocat 08-13-2011 12:16 PM

Problem solved! This board always comes through! Pretty colors in your quilt!

jrharry 08-13-2011 12:18 PM

I agree with others, small boarder of pink and then add the purple. It will look fabulous!

Crqltr 08-13-2011 12:19 PM

I agree...a little pink will look great. And it is lots easier to cut some off then to pick out all those sticthes!

qbquilts 08-13-2011 12:24 PM

I agree with the others - cut the pink so it's a small border and then add the purple. My first thought was "I like the pink", but then I saw the 2nd & 3rd pics and really liked the purple with just a tad of the pink showing!

blueangel 08-13-2011 12:38 PM

Ditto

meemersmom 08-13-2011 01:04 PM

Yup. I vote for the purple, too.

Ditto with these ladies.

Another vote for the purple border!

I totally agree with leaving a narrow border of the pink then the purple. I would leave the pink about an inch wide. You have made a beautiful quilt.

I like the little bit of pink peaking through. Why not just cut it down to a narrow border and add the purple? No seam ripping that way.
OK should maybe read through all the posts first. LOL
