Been awhile since I posted, here is something I have been working on. Just have to decide if I need another row or do some sort of odd border. Right now it is pretty square. Suggestions with links to examples are welcome.

It's beautiful - love your fabric selections.

BeckySt 08-11-2012 07:20 PM

Love your colors, I would do a small black inner border then maybe t a red black outer border.

Grandma Bonnie 08-11-2012 07:31 PM

Your quilt top is beautiful!!

Rock Lady 08-11-2012 08:28 PM

Your quilt is absolutely beautiful. I think it does need borders and that would really set it off.

sandilee 08-11-2012 10:30 PM

Very beautiful. Love the rich colors.

Quiltaddict 08-11-2012 10:49 PM

I love your top. If it were mine I think I would just add a small (3-4 inch) border to frame it.

Diane on Summit 08-11-2012 11:33 PM

Very dramatic and modern. Great job! I'd like a border in black about 1/2 the width of your bands, then a 2nd in red 3 X the first border.

I second Diane on Summit's answer. This just gorgeous and borders will finish it off just right.

I did a similar lap quilt with a narrow red border, wider black border, and then the binding was the b/w print with white beads meandering which many thot set it off. I'll try to add a pic.

That would be my suggestion, too. I love this! All these red, black & white quilts really inspire me to leave my comfort zone & make one! This one is gorgeous!

phillis42, yours is lovely, thank you for sharing it with me.

Neesie 08-12-2012 07:48 AM

What a gorgeous quilt! I think I'd make it a tad longer, in order to cover the foot of the bed. Just can't get over how elegant that pattern looks, in those colors! Wow!

dove 08-12-2012 07:56 AM

DixieDoodle 08-12-2012 08:13 AM

Gorgeous quilt! I love the colors you used, too.

nativetexan 08-12-2012 08:24 AM

OH golly, that is beautiful. I think a black border would look great on it.

terri bb 08-12-2012 09:25 AM

this is so rich! i love the colors and the fabric you chose! its outstanding!

kensington 08-12-2012 09:33 AM

If you want it longer rather than square, make your top and bottom borders wider. Or add another row of your "rail" blocks.

I like the white on black print, I'd make the first border from that, and then add a black, and end at the edge with a 3rd, in one of your reds.

AuntieD 08-12-2012 09:47 AM

Very nice quilt! You did a good job.

Jammin' Jane 11-08-2012 01:56 PM

very lovely quilt

Quiltmaniac2010 11-08-2012 06:30 PM

I love it!! I agree with other posts that it needs a black narrow border and a red wider outer border. Beautiful job!

MimiBug123 11-08-2012 06:40 PM

Very pretty quilt! I love your color combinations and agree that a couple of borders would just set it off perfectly. Great job!
