My mother and I got together recently and started sewing. We thought we were just making one quilt top but we made more blocks than what we needed for the size we wanted to make. This was just a project for us to do to spend time together. We went through our collective stash - mom went to the store for more fabric - and made a spool quilt. BTW, the leftover blocks and a few more we made to go with them are currently being sewn into another top, put together the same way as this one except the colors are different. Hope this inspires someone else!

Nice. I love spending time with my mom in the sewing room. I always ask her opinion in the projects I am working on. It is so nice to have another view.

really nice!
I love scrappy quilts! |
What a great mother/daughter project. It is really pretty.
I am unable to get my mother interested. She says she just doesn't have the patience. Too bad because she has a great eye for color. |
Very nice. I, too, made one of these patterns and ended up with too many blocks (is there ever such a thing). I made two quilts and gave them to two friends. The pattern is great for scraps, both light and dark. Good job.

Its so nice that you and your mother can work together. My mom used to sew most of my cloths and embroidery, shes a whoppin 62 now and she has lost interest in sewing and crafting. Sits and does jigsaw puzzles. I wish there was a way I could get her back at her sewing machine, shes a very talented lady. You and your mom do lovely work.

I love this pattern, lovely way to spend time with your Mum. I love your quilt, you have given me an idea for a project to do with my Mum, only on a smaller scale, she is thinking of making one of her GD's a baby quilt. I think we could manage this pattern OK.

Treasure the time with your Mom.Mine didn't quilt or sew, but wouldn't take anything for the memories & times we shared. My parents were readers who taught their 4 children to love books/reading.The quilt is very nice. Thanks for sharing.
