Spring in a Milk Bottle

1 Attachment(s)
Just finished this raw edge applique wall hanging, it's about 21 1/2" x 17 1/4", I wanted a trapunto effect on the flowers so appliqued them onto the background with a layer of Hobbes 80/20, cut away the batting around the stitching, cut and adhered another layer of Hobbes to the back of each flower, then sandwiched top with a layer of Thermolam and the backing. I quilted by stitching around everything (as well as the flowers in the background) - and still only got about a 1/4" puff on the flowers. arrg lol

The Heat and Bond Lite is so stiff, if anyone knows of another product that has a softer/more pliable feel I'd be grateful to know. I used all batik fabrics (except for the table top), mainly because they fray less in the applique pieces. I couldn't find fabric in the shade of green milk glass for the milk bottle so just mixed some acrylic paints with floetrol and painted muslin, it came out a bit stiff but with some extra batting behind it, it worked fine. Thanks for looking, and may Spring be swift and lasting. :)

Sweet wall hanging! I think Misty Fuse is supposed to be a lightweight fusible.

Sew pretty! Yes, Misty Fuse is the best if you are wanting lightweight fusible.
