I bought all of this fabric this week...I actually have more...

But the center is a cheater peice...so I only had to put on borders....I thought I needed to add a bit more because I felt it was to easy for some reason...so I added the appliqued vines...when I quilt it...I think I will also quilt in some extra leaves and vines......Here are the pictures:

So what if the center is a "cheater". I think we need a better term than "cheater". I really like it and think the colors are great. As for your appliqued vines...pure genius. That is the perfect finishing touch

DebraK 03-28-2010 11:22 PM

i like the vines.

We call it "efficiency cloth" LOL
Nice job on the vines too! :D

rootyr 03-29-2010 01:47 AM

That is lovely. I have heard the panels called "Smart quilts" I like that one better.

raptureready 03-29-2010 03:22 AM

I agree with JanetM. Cheater sounds so negative. Let's call it Predetermined, or Unified, or Uncut, or Non-pieced, anything but cheater. By the way, I love it! It was pretty before but adding the vines really set it off.

watterstide 03-29-2010 03:25 AM

i think it is awesome, never saw a panel like that before! (don't like the "cheater" word either...

raptureready 03-29-2010 03:33 AM

I'm not sure I like "smart" either, it makes it sound like pieced quilts are "dumb". How about QUICK QUILTS? Easy to say, positive sound. Personally I like it.

I also want to know where you got that fabric. I'd like to have some of it too, maybe in blues, or purples.

marsye 03-29-2010 04:22 AM

I like "Quickies" ....their are some really pretty ones out there.

Dawn Hendrix 03-29-2010 04:25 AM

oo REALLY love this.. and the vines add so much.. GREAT WORK!

MamaBear61 03-29-2010 04:41 AM

Very pretty

Jingle 03-29-2010 05:34 AM

I love it as it was, cheater quilts are just as good as pieced. I use a whole cloth if the piece is real pretty and I can't bear to cut it up. I just put borders on it, quilt it and usually keep it for myself.

I bought this fabric at my local quilt shop...they only had this color way......but it is by Anna Fishkin for Red rooster Fabrics it is called "Promises" ( Don't you just love that name?...Screams Spring to me!)...anyway I hope this helps.

soniboo 03-29-2010 07:15 AM

It's beautiful and your creativity makes it perfect!

Thank you. I looked up Red Rooster fabrics and then clicked on Where To Buy and found several quilt shops in this area carry it.
You should click on Up Coming and look at the Hawaiian Quickie Quilt fabric. I think that's the one I'm going to wait for. As much as I like your's I've always wanted something that looks Hawaiian and what better way than without all the applique?

RedGarnet222 03-29-2010 07:34 AM

Oh I love the colors! Lovely vine work too.

ForestHobbit 03-29-2010 08:16 AM

The appliqued vines are perfect. They "make" this quilt.

dkabasketlady 03-29-2010 08:52 AM

It's a very attractive quilt and nothing wrong with panels already done for you. The designers were very cleaver with their pattern!!

Jim's Gem 03-29-2010 07:16 PM

I think that is the prettiest cheater panel I have seen!! It looks great!!

love2quilt... 03-29-2010 07:56 PM

I love the fabric colors, and the vines make it so whimsical - perfect for Spring! I think when you have an easier quilt top then it gives you extra time and energy for the quilting part- perhaps a new design you've never tried.

littlehud 03-29-2010 08:01 PM

I think it's beautiful. You would never know the center was a cheater. The vines are the finishing touch. Great job.

dglvr 03-29-2010 08:13 PM

I like it. You did an awesome job on it.

zkosh 03-29-2010 08:19 PM

Okay, Charismah,
I'm starting to feel really intimidated. How on Earth do you get so much done? It's amazing. I feel like it takes me forever to get one quilt done and you just keep making them. Not fair!

(But good work, anyway, as usual...)

This is a quilt I finished last week from a panel.

NauDeeGal 03-30-2010 03:25 AM

Awesome quilt! I really like the vines you added. Very creative!

Well this one was a cheater quilt...all I had to do was add borders and then I appliqued the vines....so this was FAST!...No need to feel intimidated.....I think we all work at our own pace...and everyone makes beautiful quilts.

CraftsByRobin 03-30-2010 07:36 AM

That is beautiful :D

Fiber Artist 03-31-2010 10:37 AM

Love the added vines,I can't wait to see the finished quilt.

diannemc 03-31-2010 01:20 PM

Charismah how do you find the time to do so many quilts! I am just amazed at you!!

Well this was a cheater quilt...so it only took me about an hour...with everything. Time?? Hmm..Sleep is overrated!

Dragonfly Nana 03-31-2010 02:45 PM

Very pretty.

craftybear 04-18-2010 10:30 PM

cute

Marnie 05-12-2010 04:34 PM

Charismah: Why don't we call them "Starter Panels" ?

I have a few in my stash and not sure how to use them. You did a beautiful job on yours!

Evangeline 05-12-2010 04:40 PM

I agree with whoever said the vines are pure genius. You did a great job of making that panel your own!

daisey 05-12-2010 04:53 PM

I love the colors and love , love the vines!

quiltluvr 05-12-2010 05:01 PM

Pre-pieced came to my mind. Whatever you want to call it, I LOVE it. The colors just pop and scream spring. Wish I could find something like that. Very nice job.

sewnsewer2 05-12-2010 05:11 PM

Very pretty and I love the vines!
