I've been debating about what to put in the center of DS#1's San Antonio quilt, and I've been reading about Stack & Whack - dangerous combination! I had some Egyptian border fabric (no clue why!) so I decided to play a little. Having this much fun has got to be illegal somewhere!
Here's the beginning fabric (with the Dresden plate already cut out of it) and some of what I played around with. The one on the quilt top is just a 6" 60 degree diamond. The little ones are a Dresden plate and triangles I cut out of the scraps from the big diamond. They won't go with the quilt, but I'll find something to do with them :D The big guy The border fabric I started with The little guys |

Great fun, I agree, look forward to seeing the final result!

What a great idea, wondered what stack & Whack was.
So many combinations from just one piece of fabric. Love it. Hope you post a pic of the finished result. Elle |
Oh that star is STUNNING you should make several of them just like the post into a quilt that would be ................ SPECTACULAR.
|
Oh I love that! Oh gee... another technique that I'm gonna have to learn now. I can't wait to see how you progress with these. That border really lent itself to this stack & whack thing didn't it? Spectacular!

I love it.... Thanks for sharing with us

Roben those are great!!! I have a Stack and Whack book, but I think it's outside my skill level. It's on my one day when I get good list of things to do.

I did this with foundation piecing. I was not real happy with it because it is so plain.

ooooooh it is absolutely stunning!!!
Say.. if your son doesn't want it.. I WILL!!! :) I love anything to do with Egypt!!! My dream trip is to see Egypt!!!! ahh but I'm sure your son will love it and will not wish to part with it!! Stack and Whack is alot of fun, although i didnt' do mine that way when I made one.. I cut out each individual piece using mirrors on angles to make them. It was a much longer process but I loved the results!! I am planning to make a 4 posies quilt sometime this month. I got the fabrics in the mail last week to start making it. |
8) Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!! I've wanted to learn Stack 'n Whack for a long time. Maybe this will give me the motivation. I have the book, the problem is that I have to have any process demonstrated a couple of times before I can catch on. Some kind of learning disability I suppose.
Show us the whole quilt when it's finished, please! |
