I think I'm hooked...So much fun and each one keeps your interest because you don't know what it's going to look like. Already have my fabric for next one...can't wait...
Now I just have to sew together, sandwich, quilt and call it done...maybe this wkend

It's beautiful! I love the different blocks that always go together because they are from the same fabric. Can't wait to see it finished.

debcavan 04-21-2011 03:46 PM

Beautiful colors. Aren't they fun. I just love them. I could happily do stack and whack forever

fabric is perfect.

Sunflower Girl 04-21-2011 03:50 PM

I've only done one stack and whack but I loved it!

jmabby 04-21-2011 03:51 PM

Very pretty. I still have more reading to do in the book before I start. I do have to finish my bed runner first.

StitchinJoy 04-21-2011 03:56 PM

Love it. I love stack and whack. I just finished a one block wonder. Never again, I will stick to the stack and whack. After all the work on the obw, it all mingles together and I am thinking I could have just quilted the fabric. Love your blocks.

emerald46 04-21-2011 04:53 PM

Beautiful!

Quiltmaniac2010 04-21-2011 04:54 PM

jenny Line 04-21-2011 07:09 PM

Very nice!

squilter 04-21-2011 07:46 PM

What is the difference in the Stack and Whack and the OBW, as far as cutting them out? Or is there any?

sisLH 04-21-2011 08:12 PM

I like it. I've never done it. What is it and how do you do it?

dhanke 04-21-2011 10:23 PM

I love your blocks! I have yet to make a stack n whack, however I have a whole stack of fabrics pulled from my stash that will be perfect, I've made "mirrored" blocks from all of them, now to make the real thing. Can't wait to see your finsihed quilt.

cctx. 04-21-2011 11:02 PM

The layering part is pretty much the same, the cutting depends on the kind of blocks. For OBW, you use triangles to make either hexagons or octogans but stack n whack can be squares, triangles, ribbon strips, fans etc. The real difference is in the layout. OBW = no sashing and you are aiming for an all over design that flows around the surface of the quilt. With the right fabric and a skilled designer, this process deconstructs and reforms the fabric onto a whole new level. In stack n whack the blocks are sashed and each stand alone in their individual beaty - like this lady's lovely blocks posted here. :-D

Great job!! And thanks for the explanation by another member and for showing the original piece.
I would love to try it sometime! :D:D

pocoellie 04-23-2011 03:51 AM

Beautiful job!! I know exactly what you mean, I did one, with the intention of only doing 1, before you know it, I had 5 done, and going through my fabric, I keep saying, oh, this would be neat as a stack and Whack. I have to keep telling myself, not until I get done with the 10-15 I already have planned with the fabrics set aside.

4EVERquilt 04-23-2011 04:41 PM

nice!!

LivelyLady 04-23-2011 06:36 PM
