Just finished the leading on my stained glass quilt. I ended up gluing on black yarn for the leading. After it dries overnight I will ziz-zag over the yarn, then back and bind it so that my daughter can hang it in her new office. She spoke for this almost before I got started on it.

Absolutely gorgeous.

Beautiful! If she gets sick of it it'd look great in my office too! :)

Oh.
Breathtaking. Polly, it's magnificent. I LOVE the background fabric for the window. And the center fabrics (and pattern) are beautiful. The level of complexity of each of your projects, not to mention the number, continues to amaze. Thank you so much for sharing. |
Thanks for the glue tip. Beautiful:)

I've wondered about useing black yarn as leading... thanks for confirming it can be done this way
|

Absolutely Stunning!

STUNNING!

I agree with what everyone else said!!! Beautiful, stunning, georgious ect....
|
Absolutely beautiful - if for some reason the yarn doesn't work as nicely they have a narrow black ribbon called hot ribbons that has an adhesive on the back and you just press it on that work wonderfully for this type of thing.
Your daughter is very lucky to have such a talented mom. Thanks, Sherryl Candlequilter |
Breathtakingly gorgeous!

It probably should be hanging in a church or an art gallery. This is just fabulous work.

WoW!!! That really looks like a stained glass window! Beautiful!
|
Gorgeous. I have a foot that allows me to zigzag over cording, etc. as you lay it down - have you tried that? I haven't but it sure sounds good to me. Carol

Hi everyone, thanks for looking and for your kind remarks. To answer your questions: I used Elmers washable shcool glue, that is why I am going to zig-zag over the yarn.
I am going to use the cording foot. I haven't practiced with it yet, but will this evening. Also think I am going to use black thread, but am going to try the monofilament also. Regarding the Hot Ribbon, love the sound of it and Mrs. Hancoop's technique, however, the cost of the ribbon is really prohibitive for me. At $3.95 to $4.95 for 2 yards, just too expensive. Her patterns are really wonderful, can't believe I didn't know her name and her work. |
WOW!!! That is so NICE!!! GREAT JOB!!!!!
|
WOW! Love that fluer de lis! Stunning quilt. Was that a pattern? Would be great housewarming gift for my SIL.
|
Oh My! It's breathtaking! Nice work.
|
Gorgeous! I would love to make one myself but am afraid to try!
|
Emerald46, I got the pattern for the quilt from a book called Doorways, Windows and Transoms Stained Glass Pattern Book by Anna Croyle. I took it to Staples and had them enlarge it as big as they could which was 36" by 45". The book has several really beautiful patterns.
Anael - Don't be afraid to try, just pick a pattern and go for it. My way is really, really easy. Fused pieces to a piece of sheeting, glued yarn around the pieces, will zig-zag over the yarn, no batting - just backing and binding. Give it a try! |
Gorgeous

Great job.

This is lovely. Thanks for the tip about the yarn and couching over it. I've always wanted to try a stained glass window, but was put off by the thought of managing the bias strips. Is the yarn and glue easier?
