I have been trying to finish the center of quilt all month. I put hand embroidery highlights on both horses and added a few other details.

I have just got back into trying to finish this project up. But as I finish up the embroidery on the horses legs and the applique of the rocks, my mind races to what will look best for the borders. I was thinking about doing 12" blocks with applique horses, hats, boots, etc. However, the more I think about it I feel that it would really distract from the focal point the stallions. So...........here is my dilemma (1) do I just put alternating strips of complimentary fabrics for the borders or (2) go with the original plan of the blocks. What do you all think? Any other ideas?

I think I am on the home stretch now. Place the border around the center and will finish with one more border for my niece to hang on her wall. Wow I didn't think I would make it this far.

Oh how my granddaughter would love to have a quilt like that............. wonderful job.
