Beautiful!! I hope to get up the nerve to try one someday.

I love it. So do you just cut, piece the blocks and then lay them out to decide where to put them or is there a plan of where they go before you cut?

Great quilt and fabric choice. I'm amazed at your courage to FMQ such a big project for the first time. You did an amazing job and I love the quilt pattern.

You are too hard on yourself. It is lovely. The way you placed the blocks in great! Your quilting is fine too!

That is a beautiful quilt. It reminds you of Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Starry Night" painting too. Gorgeous.

Thanks Sally! Yes, that is what my daughter said too.
I had the Don McClean song stuck in my head the whole time I was laying out the blocks. I love that song. ;-)

I love this quilt!! My favorite OBW yet!!! Wonderful fabric choice by your daughter and terrific work by you. The way you organized the blocks is absolutely stunning. I just might have to try one some day.

Yup, you just cut, piece and lay them out. I played with the layout of the hexagons for about a week before starting to strip quilt them together. And I "tested" that fabric on my computer first too. (see page 6 of this topic for an example of what I mean)
But overall, OBWs are a very serendipitous approach to quilt making, which is what makes it really fun.
