I'm starting a D4P using blue and white fabric. This is my 1st block. It'll square off at 8". I think it came out pretty good but it was harder than I thought it would be making the seams line up. The first time I tried it, the center came out wonky, so I ripped it out, reread the instructions and tried again. Much better the second time.

I followed this tutorial: http://sewwonderful.blogspot.com/201...o-9-patch.html
Pay attention to the order of sewing the 9 pieces together as it's shown in the 4th picture. (I had to rip out and start over...) The second time I made sure the inner edges of my 3 vertical strips met cleanly and I tried to be very careful to maintain accurate seam allowances. A couple of seams in the final block are still a tiny bit off, but any wonkiness wound up being in the perimeter of the block and will be taken care of when I square up all the blocks in the end.

Ditto! Isn't it amazing the things that happen when we read the instructions? I usually wait until it's too late and have to start over from square one!

Thank you so much for admiring my fur-baby! That's my sweet Curley, a 14 1/2 year old mini-dachshund. My other mini-dachshund, fur-babies are Lucy (11) and Sassy (9). I absolutely love these dogs, hence my name: "DoxieMom"!
