I love the blocks even the dark ones. They are beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I have a large piece, about 3 yards or more of a dk. blue and rose border print that I could never figure out what to do with, now I know. I'm bookmarking this and hope to do one later on. I'm trying to get my ufo's caught up before starting something else. Be sure and post the finished top.

Wow, these are gorgeous blocks!

WMUTeach 05-06-2012 08:43 AM

Thank you for the good idea. I spent part of Saturday morning sorting fabric and found so doosies that I inherited and would not use in a million years, but as a stack and whack, they may be more interesting. I had not even considered S&W until your posting. Off to the net for a tutorial and then add it to my pile of "To Do's".

cleodaisy 05-06-2012 12:07 PM

You certainly are doing something right. This is the first OBW that I have seen made from a border fabric. I am really looking forward to seeing more gorgeous blocks --- and the finished quilt.

Maybe you can use the dark ones in the quilt corners?? Or in the center of quilt (depending how many blocks you end up with). Could make into a pillow to match--just a guess on my part,. Beautiful idea with the border print!!

jmabby 05-06-2012 05:59 PM

Great job, that is one of the many quilts on my list

They're gorgeous! I love snw, I made my first one about this time last year, I'm now working on my 7th. They're addictive! I have some border prints that I bought on clearance, lots of yardage so there'll be plenty of repeats. Thanks for the inspiration.

Have you ever tried cutting off a small strip at the beginning of a new duplicate set? Then two strips from the second..... This makes the blocks different.

While I was thinking about this, a new idea hit me. Cut off strips wide enough to use for a variegated binding.
