Neat so far!

daylily4u 09-16-2010 04:19 PM

OH I just love your winter landscaping, its so realistic! WOW I would love to snowshoe there. lol I admire your work, you do such a wonderful job. I noticed the other landscaping's that you have posted here before. They were also breathtaking for sure. I was trying to find Sewing with Nancy--on utube where would I get the book to learn to do landscaping. Wish you were close by so you could give a class on your technique. Beautiful work.

You've got a great start, Janet! I just love your fabric choice for the sky and those tree shadows. You've done a great job too of making the evergreens in the distance appear to be further away. I can't wait to see the finished image!

tlrnhi 09-16-2010 09:43 PM

Going to be very interesting to watch this develop, especially the markers - something a little bit different. Looking fabulous already.

Yes it is. Start with your background. Cut out your trees. Dont use a ruler. There are no strate lines in nature. Use a glue stick to plase all motifs where you want them. Embelish colors with markers, crayons, white out. Edge stitch everything down. then pin your batting and backing, freemotion as you wich. Then attach your sashing and your done. The trick is to relax and have fun. It's like painting with fabric. It's nature so there are no mistakes.

Janet, what size is this please and what markers did you use? It is looking more fabulous now and cannot wait to see the finished piece. Very clever and love the free form of it. We do not get snow where I live but this makes me wish we did :)

That is going to be Beautiful.

Wings 09-17-2010 06:20 PM

Thanks for answering the question re size, Janet. I have Nancy's book here I bought ages ago. I have just pulled it out of my bookcase to go through it again. Will you be doing a lot of thread painting in this one? I am presuming you mean Nancy Prince?

Wings 09-17-2010 06:25 PM

Have looked on the net and realise now you mean Nancy Ziemann.

quilter2 09-17-2010 06:32 PM

Your winter landscape is beautiful, I feel like I could just take a walk in the snow.
