I am so excited. I don't even know how I got to the Quilting Board but I saw some thing called One Block Wonder Quilt and fell in love. I ordered the book but got impatient and came back to the Quilting Board and found a wonderful Tute by cutebuns and using her tute this is what I have started. First pic is the fabric, and following pics show the cutting results.

Loving the way these are turning out for you :!: :!: Isn't the tute from Cute the easiest to follow :?: :?: I have mine laid out and ready to sew in rows - but life has gotten in the way. Hope to get back on it soon.

Awesome fabric! Love how it works for the OBW...

I used just the red/black flames for a focal fabric in a red/white/black quilt for my DGS.

Quilter2B 04-16-2010 07:52 PM

That is really going to be stunning!!! Keep us posted with pics.

lazyquilter 04-16-2010 07:57 PM

this appears to be very similar to the Stack and Whack... tomorrow, ifmit's okay, I send a picture of my very first quilt made with difficulty. And when I finished it, I was disappointed that after the sid ws finished and the binding seemed a bit twisted, after ears of washing and using and grand children wrapped in it... all those whinklrs, etc. now look like I planned it that way....

ctmhjenn 04-16-2010 08:33 PM

I did the same thing, I just bought the book last week and and got the ruler in the mail last week, so now, I am trying to find just the right fabric too. I LOVE your fabric..go get the dragon!!! Joanie

Hi Winnie, that is the same material I just made an OBW from, only blue. And I just bought some of the red to make another. Yours looks good. I'm in Houston too, in Spring Branch.

I am finally going to be able to get back to my OBW. Life and full time work has kept be away from my OBW. I go on vacation on Friday!!! Just going to the timeshare on the lake. Taking my machine and "STUFF". Grandkids are all busy soooo-- Only adults who can talk about or bring a machine and sew are welcome to share my vacation this year. Anyone in the Houston area I will be on Lake Conroe just north of Conroe in 2 bedroom 2 bath, Large rooms to sew in.... Send me a message for my cell phone and directions. Besides I may need some help this the overall design of this OBW.

I have made progress. I have all my half hex's sewn together. But wonder of wonder I find that because I did not starch my fabric BEFORE cutting that I had some crawl and not all the triangles were the same. Have to go back and resize all the half hex's to a uniform size. I don't think it will detract from the over all effect. Will let you know how that works out.
