For my birthday, I used my $ to buy some of the Farmer's Market line. I've seen it and wanted and wanted and finally bought.

I first made the stack and slash 9 patches. I LOVE how they came out. I laid them out so you can see how each fabric moves through the blocks. Ultimately they won't be arranged like this, it's just so y'all can see how each block is the same and different.

This isn't the website I used for mine, but it's the same method, in case you want to make one. Super easy, done in an afternoon - http://www.bighornquilts.com/inspiration/strip/sns.html

Then, I made the 5 point star. I spent a lot of time trying to explain it to someone on here that I decided to make one :). There are 11 fabrics and 11 pieces and each star has 11 different fabrics. The trick is to cut all 11 pieces. Then in each pile, move 1 fabric to the bottom, then the next 2 to the bottom, keeping them in order, so that the final pile has 1 of each fabric. As long as they're in order, if you have 11 different fabrics on top, you'll have 11 different fabrics in each star.

I think this block was borderline too busy, but I like it and am happy with how it came out.

Ultimately, all 20 blocks are going into 1 quilt. I'm giving them to my boyfriend to lay out since he's really good at quilt layouts (and I would go nuts since there is a weird number of each block)

I'm taking notes as I have been hoarding a bunch of fabric identical to yours.

The blocks are just beautiful and this line of fabric is exquisite (can you tell I like to "eat").

Thanks for the ideas......

I love your blocks and how you sashed them. Anxious to see more.

You sashed after each cut, right? Did you buy your fabric on-line or at a QS? I want some.

Heh, your stars are much more even looking than mine :). I had to fight the urge to carefully measure everything in my blocks to make it all nice and even and perpendicular

Jingle 12-31-2009 06:13 PM

Both are very nice, I like the fruit one, so bright and makes me hungry !!!

littlehud 12-31-2009 09:27 PM

Ooh!!! I just found the link! It took some searching, but it's such a great tutorial, walks you through step by step, I had to find it again!

Thanks for the link to the tutorial. Where did you buy your fabric? I'd love to make on for my daughter's breakfast table. It's such a bright and cheery fabric.

bstanbro 01-02-2010 10:43 AM

I love this fabric line. I'm using it to make a "bug jar" quilt right now.

Most from fabric.com, rest from LQS (search "Farmers market" or "farmer's market"). Fabric.com had a coupon for 30% off or something, so it worked out to be a great deal for all the fabric.

burnsk 01-03-2010 08:19 PM

Hate to tell you that I just went and spend $98 on Farmers Market fabric. OUCH and it's all your fault for showing your beautiful squares. Now I need to see the finished product. LOL (and I haven't figured out my sashing yet)

Kyiav10 01-03-2010 08:23 PM

Love them!!

Heh, lol, glad I could help! I'm making another food quilt out of strips. No idea what pattern, I just know I cut all my extra fabric into 2.5" strips, after I cut my blocks. I'm excited to see what you come up with :)

burnsk 01-03-2010 09:19 PM

Anxiously awaiting my order. I ordered them today so they should arrive tomorrow. RIGHT???

woody 01-03-2010 10:10 PM
