This is 8.75 in. square. The top is all silk from one of the interior decorator sample books I was given recently. All of the pieces in this were from the same book.

The center was embroidered already, I just cut the largest piece I could from the sample book, then bordered it with pieces of other silks.

The batting and backing and binding are cotton. I machine quilted with gold metallic thread.

Hope you like it!

P.S. This piece needs a name! If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

That is beautiful. How big is it? Great way to use fabric that would normally be thrown away.

Love it! How about Silk Flowers?

Very pretty. Silk is so hard to work with. You did a wonderful job.

The silk fabric makes such a lovely sheen. I like your little quilt.

No, I did not know about this one. I'll check it out. I am signed on for the One a Month Challenge on the AAQI site. My October quilt is the mini bookshelf that I posted recently.

Thanks for the idea!

It ended up beautiful!!Have you thought about joining the Liberated Challenge group? It's one of the groups I read about on With Heart and Hands blog http://with-heart-and-hands.com...the blog with all the free patterns we talk about here.

Michele is always showing her AAQi quilts and asking people to join in her group as it gets the quilts on a second page to see them up close and hopefully sell them. I think all you have to do is email her and give her quilts numbers and she puts you on her page with them. The page is also on the AAQI site for them and she works for Ami as a volunteer somehow.

I also post my minis on my Facebook page, and today one of my friends wanted to know how to find the AAQI quilts to buy! I can make 'em, but somebody else has to buy 'em!

Passing Posies or Waning Blooms. The families of Alzheimer victims are some of the bravest people I know. I feel as if that mini tells a tale.

oksewglad 10-11-2011 04:51 PM

Great suggestions; finally someone giving L a title!!

I like Waning Blooms! Thanks!

I agree, the families and friends take the brunt. I know a 50 year old doctor who was diagnosed with early Alzheimers. He had to stop practicing medicine right away. He still drives himself around, but sometimes gets lost. All spring, summer and fall, his buddies pick him up at least once a week for a round of golf. I honor those buddies for their thoughtfulness and loyalty!

I'd call it "Peek an Boo" cause it looks like the flowers are peeking out at you. Lovely work.
