A very nice quilt. I do hope you find a new name for it ... and it does not remain known as "stinky" !

I can see why you stuck with it but I would have had to wear a gas mask. Beautiful quilt and I hope the smell is gone after washing.

I have to agree with everyone who says this quilt should no longer be called "Stinky"! It's lovely and with a few good washings, hopefully you'll christen it with a new name!

Surely has a history, but, worth it! It's beautiful and nostalgic....Guess I'll have to watch my ebay bids/buys!

It is beautiful, hope the smell went away. You could have returned it, I think eBay would have helped you.

Yes it may be time to use up that gallon of vinegar, that missed the big salad.

There is a product called Sport Wash ( no second S ) that will get the smell out. website is http://www.atsko.com/ you can get it at Wal mart or Ace hardware in the hunting dept. Make sure you use the correct name. It is made locally in my town, here in SC. Made from biodegradable vegatable stuff. A friend who is a heavy smoker used it to clean her quilt and the appraiser didnt smell any smoke. great stuff.

I know this stuff works for some pretty foul odors...I used to soak my wrist guards/elbow pads/knee pads in it since they are not washable. When we practiced roller derby for 10 hours a week they got the most horrible sweat smell...the pads had to be bagged and put in the trunk of the car to drive them home! If it got those smells out, surely it will work on cigarette smoke!
