Storm at Sea Heart Table Topper

1 Attachment(s)
Actually that should read times two!! Awhile ago I asked for some opinions on a design. I am making a series of seasonal runners for Christmas gifts for my daughter and my new daughter in law (why I said times two!!). This is the Valentines topper and it smaller than I originally designed it - the two finished out at 24" square. I can now say I have done something in storm at sea - I will check it off my list because I am not sure I will do another. While I did paper piecing and the actual hearts went together well, it was tedious to say least.

It’s beautiful, and a perfect size. It’s on my list of quilts to do and I may end up with a small one too!

That's so pretty. I would love to make a storm at sea but I know it will never happen. I'll just drool over the ones I see.

Pretty hearts!

You did a great job putting them all together. Now you can check that pattern off the list.

This shows that Storm at Sea can be laid out in many different ways and this one is beautiful!! This one touches my heart in an unexpected way. I made a storm at sea about 27 years ago and it was the traditional block lay out and it came out well. I never thought about doing something like this. Very ingenious. Well thought through. Thanks for sharing.

Oh Juliasb I am not sure I can claim this design. I actually saw a quilt that used colors to highlight two intertwined hearts. I just used that as a starting point - sat down in EQ and played with colors to get the heart. Glad you liked it!!

Very pretty.

That's a really clever take on the Storm at Sea pattern. It turned out beautiful, but I can imagine it was complicated and took a lot of concentration. You did a great job, and I'm sure they will be well received.

Gorgeous and a different look from the many heart designs I’ve seen. Lucky daughters!
