It looks great Ruth! So cheery and colorful. I hate picking paper off too, but I think your result was well worth it.

Looks great!
I haven't done much reading on strings, but why do you have to use a foundation, paper or fabric? You can't just sew the pieces together, like a railfence or piano key border? I'm not understanding. |

Very, very pretty!!! (I would never have thought to use newspaper as a foundation. Aren't you clever????????)

I really love your quilt, Ruth!!! If you put it away, I hope it's not for long! :D
I love scrappy quilts, and especially the string ones. I bought a bunch of string blocks like yours off Ebay almost two years ago, and still haven't put them together yet. I haven't quite figured out how to sew them together! I think they have muslin on the backs. |
it looks great. i love string quilts

Your string quilt is really pretty! A lady at my Wed sewing group does this quilt using phone book pages. Maybe it would be easier, it seems to be thinner. The only string quilt I've made is one using muslin as a foundation. I haven't tried the paper method yet.

Good job Ruth. Don't put it away - finish it then you can relax and breath!

I like how you did the sashing. I am doing my first string blocks now with a sheeting base. It is so easy, I love it!
