Google:

"Quilting Workshops~ Techniques & Patterns~"

ISBN 1-885588-32-1

The name of the pattern in this book is called:

"String pieced star" by Beverly Dunivent; and the directions are on page 18 of this book.
The author makes her wall hanging at 32.5" x 36" and uses assorted 1930s prints with a solid Black background and border trim 30s with a final Black border to compliment her color choice.

It looks to me that this star here is bigger than the Quiltville star pattern.
Either way, it's string pieced in my opinion and the quiltville has (8) points, the one in the book has (6) points to the star and is bigger.

**My mistake here, there is a difference in the star points and size.
Either way they all are very Beautiful.

I always iron my seams open, also when i do the final seam to put the 2 halfs together.I press the center from both sides of the quilt a few times to get it as flat as possible. When I did my very first star, I had the same trouble in the center, but then I figured out, what works best for me.

My time 04-30-2011 09:31 AM

Okay so seams open. That's so much for the help. I just might make that Lonestar quilt yet.

Jennifer22206 04-30-2011 09:32 AM

oh wow. I love that!! Gorgeous!

I have that book.
The star made in the book uses a Black background.

Yours is very pretty, prettier than the Black background.

WHAT is the name of the book, please?? LOVE the star !!!
