I started quilting when we were living at Carlisle Barracks, PA (my DH was in the Army). I belonged to a small quilt group (12) and all of our husband's were there for just one year for school. When we all moved away we decided to swap suitcase blocks. We each made "suitcases" that reflected something about ourselves and then attached a luggage tag with our names and where we were moving to. It was a lot of fun. Here is my finished suitcase quilt. It is 34X44"

Marcia: First, please thank your husband for his Army service. We truly do appreciate his and your sacrifices to keep us all safe.

Next, I love your suitcase quilt. How wonderful it is and what a great idea. Years ago when my DH was in the Navy we always felt so bad when our friends were transferred to other places and we knew many of them would never been seen again...your quilt is such a wonderful momento of your service life. It's great. Thanks for sharing.

What a wonderful idea. I love how all of the suitcases are so individual. You must have many wonderful memories of that year that are triggered by that quilt. (And, I have to add the 12 of you were quite talented!, too)
