You've seen this before--but I thought you'd want to see how the quilting is coming. This is for my niece who just bought a house with her fiance. They're getting married in Sept, and a ragged flannel will be the gift for that event.

The tricky part is the darn binding! It's pinned in the back in the photos. Matching the sky to sky and grass to grass is a pain. But, I did it--see:

Edited to add fixed tree issue.... I like that better. :D

The binding might have been tricky, but worth it I think for the effect it has!!! Good job Karla!!!!

Just as we suspected all along--you're a genius!

Marcia 06-30-2008 02:20 PM

Karla-Your niece is going to love it! The quilting is great and you did an awesome job on that binding!

Everytime I post photos I get a new persepctive on the projects. I see what I don't like. That one tree really stands out-looks like a B-l-o-c-k. :? Well--nothing can be done now--it's well rooted.

mgshaw 06-30-2008 02:57 PM

Karla, I didnt even notice it, so had to go back and look. But ok I see what you are saying now, I think if you just add a little bit of quilting around it, it will be just fine. (I know, more work). That would be for your peace of mind, cause like I said I didnt even notice until you said something!!!

barnbum 06-30-2008 03:02 PM

Great idea, Melissa!!! THANK YOU!! :D I will do exactly that!

Did I ever mention how much I love it here?

Bevanger 06-30-2008 03:16 PM

I think the quilting will do it. Maybe that is your family tree... She is going to love it.

I fixed it, Melissa!! I like it much better now!! Thank you so much for your idea--it would have taken me a week to figure that out.

I need one of those cheek kiss smilies. :D

I replaced the photo with the yucky one.

ANOTHER barn quilt masterpiece! :D :D

How did you come to pick Jazz for the barn door? Inquiring minds want to know!

barnbum 07-04-2008 03:47 PM

To answer the "why Jazz?" question--I'd have to say I thought my niece would appreciate it a lot--and he looks so danged handsome in there.
