SUnBonnet Sue - 60 yrs in the making !
 

My BF (the boy kind!) gave me these six blocks a couple of years ago. He did the appliqué when he was about 10 (60 yrs ago!) and I got to put them into a quilt. I'm really happy with my design - I added the center heart appliqué square (he even had extra original block fabric), used matching colors for the sashing of each girl, then added the yellow rectangles to make it square, and it totally felt like purple was the only color for border/binding. I meandered in each girl block (I think it makes them a little more girlie), and used a paper doll fabric for the back. Love how this turned out - makes me smile each time I look at it! It was fun creating a family heirloom for him! (Could not add a pic of the backing, it kept failing on me - oh well)
