Surf Quilt Finished and a Grow Chart (picture heavy)

Some of you who have long memories may recall my post about this quilt. Then just the top was pieced. You requested I show it when it was finished. It's taken a while but it's finally finished and being gifted next week. It was quite a challenge for me and one that I will think twice about doing again. It is my best effort but I am a bit disappointed with some areas of the quilting. Basically I winged it.
The Pirate Grow Chart was made for the grandson of my neighbour. He was 1yr old last April. The shiny plastic pockets are for photos to slide into to record his growth. The pictures are blueish for some reason. Sorry. |
You did a nice job on both of your projects. I like the pockets you put on the growth chart.
You done an awesome job on both projects. I am sure both will be loved. The quilting looks great to me.

StitchingCrazy, you might be looking at your work tooooo closely. I am sure it will much appreciated. Your growth chart is wonderful. That too will be greatly appreciated.:thumbup::thumbup:

Both are wonderful. That growth chart is too fun

Both quilts are great. Love the growth chart, but a wee bit worried about the rope unless it is anchored down. However, any child would love to use it and to see it!
The first quilt is wonderful - a surfers delight! |
Like both alot. Pockets for pics are a good idea.
Super job on both!
Both are great...like that growth chart! Creative
great job on them both!!!
nicely done
You did a great job and your quilting is awesome!!!!
That surf quilt is brilliant - the recipient will be thrilled. And the grow chart is darling - such a cute idea.
Both are fantastic. I especially like the creativity of the growth chart...what a neat way to show the height with the robe & dagger. The pockets will be especially handy to personalize and chart the growth of little Spencer. A truly great gift. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
I love them both!

Perfect quilts for Cornwallians, Spanish Armada and all. Guess the new armada would be surfers. Half of my maternal ancestry was from Cornwall, so it means something to me. If I ever had a chance to visit the UK, that would be my first wish, to see Cornwall.

Wonderfully done projects!
Love that Growth Chart! Did you have a pattern for it or is it your own design? I have a new4 day old great nephew, whose parents love fishing and his mother is a pilot, so I would love to make him one using either theme. How tall is the chart? Looks to me like it is a 60 inch tape.

Great job on both !!
I love this idea. How great this is.
The quilting looks fine! I too am relatively new to FMQ and there's not a quilt that I do in which I am not "disappointed with some area's of the quilting". As my husband keeps telling me "you are being too critical of yourself-the quilt looks great!" BTW the surf theme is really fun :-)

The quilt is great but the growth chart is AMAZING!!! Great job on both
Those are just super!!
You did a fantastic job on both quilts. What a very clever idea for a growth chart. I was sad when we moved from our home of 33 years, and we had to leave the growth chart on the doorway.
I like both very much, but gotta say, the growth chart is way too cool.
You did a great job on both.

Both are super! You do lovely work. Surely these will be special treasures for the recipients.

I have a hubby that would "kill" for that surf quilt.
Great choice of fabric in both projects. |
