Susybee Barron the Bear

Have you ever had a panel that is so out of square you had to cut it up and pretty much remake it? Well this darn Susybee panel was one of those...... I did the best I could with it and think the mom will love it. I used a bee quilting pattern and my favorite backing shannon canary minky. The border with the owls from a different line of fabrics but I think it looks ok.

A real cute quilt!!! Love the quilting too!!!

Sew cute! It all looks perfect together! I find panels with borders or lines the worst for being out of square.

sewbizgirl 09-01-2018 11:32 AM

Love it... super cute!

Panels are actually printed straight. It's the rolling of the yardage onto big rolls, and then the subsequent 'bolting' onto bolts that skews it. Don't be afraid to take a panel and just tug real hard on the bias until you have it square again. Then press.

That came out wonderful. They will love it. The quilting is fantastic!

Darling quilt....quilting is so sweet...

GingerK 09-01-2018 01:35 PM

Very sweet!! Great save!

I don't think I have every found an un-skewed panel. I usually tape one selvedge edge to the edge of my cutting table, then dampen the panel slightly and gently tug and tape one perpendicular edge to the table. Using my long cutting rulers and my 12 1/2 inch squares, I gently align and tape the other two edges to the table. Final check is to make sure the diagonal measurements are the same (something my woodworker DH taught me!). Then I wet the whole thing down and leave it to dry. Next day--one squared up panel!

Your quilt is precious. I love it.

jmoore 09-02-2018 02:20 AM

You did a splendid job...it is an adorably fun quilt. Love, love the bee quilting. Question...when you use the minky backing, do you also use batting?

lindaschipper 09-02-2018 04:10 AM

I do a lot of Susybee panel quilts for Project Linus...but have never seen this one. May I inquire as to where you purchased this one? The minky on the back is gorgeous...and the quilting is perfect.

coopah 09-02-2018 04:12 AM

It all works together and makes a very cute quilt!

SusieQOH 09-02-2018 04:42 AM

I absolutely love this quilt; like green/yellow. Super cute and looks so cuddly. Great quilting too.

DJ 09-02-2018 07:15 AM

So very cute!

Yes, I've had that problem with panels. Didn't know about tugging on it to square it up, but I'll be trying that in the future.

ccthomas 09-02-2018 03:33 PM

Looks very nice.

sewbeeit42 09-02-2018 06:41 PM

This is nicely done and not heavily quilted so making it soft for a child.

copycat 09-03-2018 02:24 AM

You did a fabulous job!

2manyhobbies 09-03-2018 04:06 AM

Very sweet. I love panels and cut them up anyway.

Terry99 09-03-2018 01:46 PM

Lovely panel and the quilting is excellent. Very nice work.

Jane Quilter 09-03-2018 04:16 PM

You did a great save on this cutey.

tuckyquilter 09-03-2018 05:02 PM

VERY CUTE QUILT. You did a great job. and Yes, I sure have. I've been having issues with almost any fabric that is digitally produced. It's not thick enough to remain in straight of grain. Just finished a bed size quilt that had this same issue. In the future I'll be stabilizing panels with a very sheer fusible like I use on T-shirt quilts.

Sallybear6 09-04-2018 05:35 AM

You did a great job, so adorable!

M cubed 09-04-2018 09:25 AM

I have never had a square panel and had no idea how to fix the problem - so I never bought any after the first three or four. Thanks for the info on how to correct the problem. I am anxious to try this method as there are so many really neat panels out there. Thanks again.

RuthiesRetreat3 09-04-2018 12:25 PM

Great job compensating for the fabric. Adorable quilt.

BrendaK 09-04-2018 06:15 PM

Adorable. Love the quilting. BrendaK
