Swap Blocks...

I am in the red white and blue block swap here on the board and I wanted to share with you all the ones I have so far. I am wondering about the USA block. Do you think it would be better to use red thread for the top of the letters and blue on the bottom to out line it? The pic shows it all done in a dark navy. Thoughts?

I am in the same swap. I love the one with the all navy just like shown. I really like this block.

By the way, the swap is open until the first of the month in case anyone is interested in joining.

I would leave the USA as is. Terrific job on all!

I love your blocks. I really like the navy outline. It makes the letters pop up. I don't think the affect will be the same with red thread. Is that USA done on embroidery machine?

I vote for the navy thread! The contrast looks great.

No just a set I drafted up onto graph paper and then I used the iron on applique thermal stuff to place it on the background. (the name escapes me now) Then a outline blanket stitch (built in) to sew it down.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts. I will finish up with the navy like you say, it does make it stand out.

I am also in this swap.
This is a picture of a quilt I just finished from a similar swap several years ago.

I like the USA block just the way it is. The blue and redwork blocks are so pretty.

dottie dodge 06-22-2015 12:18 PM

I really like your USA block with the navy stitching. Actually, I like all of your blocks. I have been looking at that swap and would like to do it but that "time" word keeps getting in my way.

My thought is the dark outline looks fine on the red letters.

matraina 06-22-2015 03:44 PM

All are very cute but I just LOVE the first one!

ube quilting 06-22-2015 04:44 PM
