This is the jacket that I made for my MIL for mother's day. She is always cold, even in the heat of the summer. The idea came from two postings here. One about doing the quilted jacket and one about how to use a jelly roll by sewing all the strips together end to end (that is how I made my "fabric" to top the sweatshirt. Thanks everyone for all your innovative ideas.

I didn't happen to see that you posted your "creative idea" over to the Super Fast Jelly Roll quilt thread, so I am going to do that for you ... I'll bet the original poster will get a kick out of where you have taken her idea <wave>

Yes I did do the back, I just took the sweatshirt apart at the seams after I took the sleeves out and cut my fabric to cover the front and back pieces, did SID on the fabric to "quilt" it and then put it back together. I have a serger so it makes a great job of reassembling the sweatshirt.

She should keep very warm in that jacket. You did a great job on it.

Yes, stitch and flip would work too. I was trying to keep my seam allowances to a minimum because MIL doesn't like too much "bulk" on the inside of her clothing, it seems to bother her.

amma 05-18-2010 04:44 PM

That is very pretty, I bet she is enjoying it too :D:D:D

Great Jacket. I made many of these for my Mom, she loved them. It made me sweat to see her wearing it when it was 100 degrees outside, but she was comfy.

Yes I know what you mean, my MIL was camping with us this past weekend and she was there in a sweatshirt while rest of us were warm in our t-shirts
