Hi
I would think that if you don't want any seams it couldn't be bigger than the width of the fabric. I think I will have to try one with the train, even though I don't know anybody who has a babyboy right now lol. |
Wow! I would like to make one like this one day. Thanks for sharing.
|
Thanks! I didn't think about not having seams!! Good point! So definitely no bigger than 44/45"......unless you buy wide backing to make it bigger but I really don't think you would want to make it bigger than regular with fabric for a baby quilt. You could use a round table cloth for a pattern to cut the circle ...or an actual pattern for a round table cloth to cut the circle? Now we have to work on templates for the center...

That is really sweet. Thanks for sharing it.

You can make the circle by taking a square of the fabric, folding into fourths, tie a string or ribbon to a pencil, pin it into the fold point with the ribbon half the desired distance, (i.e. 21 1/4" for 42 " width giving a 1/4 " seam allowance around the outer edge) and draw and arc with the ribbon/pencil compass. If you did want to make one larger you could piece 2 pieces of 42 inch fabric and have a middle seam.
It looks like it could make a nice blanket to wrap around a little one too. |
