Very cute! Did you randomly place the white squares on the DP9, OR WERE THEY IN THE SAME PLACE EVERY TIME?

Jo Anne B. 02-16-2013 10:22 AM

Very cute! I love the Sophie line! So much in fact I have bought two kits online.(the site went oob and I got them for a steal!!) Actually my DH found it as he was looking over my shoulder as I was perusing the Moda Bake Shop site. Moda Bake shop has a pattern for a baby quilt cover that ties to the baby carrier in the Sophie line.
Now we hope and wish and pray for a DGD!! The double ironic if we are to be blessed with a new DGD, her name has all ready chosen to be "Sophie". How funny and fun is that??:D It's fate!
I am way ahead of schedule...no baby announcements yet...;)
i love the baby quilt and the Sophie so it is way high on my list.
I did a quilt last summer the pattern was "Kalideoscopic Kites" that basically was very very similar to the D9P.

Z Any Mouse 02-16-2013 10:32 AM

Yes, when you are a MSQ "daily deal" junkie... you end up with a lot of pretty charm packs!

Thank you everyone for the compliments...

Thanks, Jean. Still flying by the seat of my pants with the machine quilting.

The four white pieces were center top and bottom, left and right. The colored pieces were the dead center and the four corners. This method is pretty much just like the Kalideoscopic Kites pattern that JoAnne mentioned. See if you can google that free pattern. I started by sorting the charm pack by color families, and putting together groups of 5 of each color. It required adding in a couple of squares from my stash, to round things out.

JoAnne, we have a doggy named Sophie, but I'd love the name for a granddaughter, too. We could tell her she was named after the dog, LOL...

Here, I found the KK pattern. Isn't it PRETTY?!:
http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/?p=1016

Her construction is different. She has you build the smaller squares that we would get as the result of cutting our 9 patches into quarters. If you are familiar with DNP, you can look at her pattern and realize how you can shortcut it...

heather1949 02-19-2013 07:41 PM

Well done that is just gorgeous, love the colours as well.

sewbizgirl 02-19-2013 07:42 PM

I'm putting together another top now, the same way, using the new "Simply Color" line by V and Co. for Moda. It's a little more colorful and should make another fun quilt. Will show later, when I get it done!

Sheepshed 02-19-2013 07:43 PM

That has a nice pretty *warm* look about it... nice job !

I recently made a DP9 using Saddle Up prints (half of a layer cake and a yard each of 2 coordinates, which part of one was also used for a narrow border). Love that technique. Thanks for sharing.

Mdaniels 02-20-2013 02:44 AM

I like that very much.
