My Dad had drawers stuffed full of T-shirts he has collected through the years, so I figured I would ask my Mom if she would send them to me so I could surprise him with a quilt for his Birthday! She said I had to ask him(I guess he guarded those T-shirts)He said alright and sent them out to me within two days! He loved the Quilt!

This quilt is beautiful!!! I have made two t-shirt quilts and they were a lot of work! I did not add the regular cotton fabric like you did...but I wish I had because it looks so good!

Mine are on the side of my blog!

I love looking at the-t-shirts, as they tell a story. your dad must have lived in NEW Hampshire or mass at one time, I see a shirt for nashua, Sanders (low Lockheed martin??) and also for the red sox?

I'm from NH and spend much time in the Nashua area, small world!!

Great job. I think these are great for men. They aren't usually in to "girly, frilly" quilts. My SIL had a huge collection of t-shirts that he wouldn't part with. They had seen years of wear and tear, some stains and fading. It drove my DD crazy as she is not a saver. When I was still new to quilting, I took a class on t-shirt quilts. DD did not have her old t-shirts...because she's not a saver, you know...so I asked if I could use some of SIL's shirts. Surprisingly, he agreed. At the class I had the oldest, worn out shirts you can imagine. BUT, when cutting the necks and sleeves away, they turned out great. Everyone was happy. Daughter got rid of the "rag bag" and he has his sentimental shirts in a new and useful quilt. The backing is flannel with Cincinnati Bengal design.

Yes My parents still live in Nashua, and my Dad worked for Sanders(Lockheed) and so did I, a long time ago! They love the Red sox! I agree with you about these kind of quilts telling a story, that's what makes them so special! what part of NH did you live in? Do you like living in Texas?

Dad's quilt is awesome. He didn't really give them away because they came back in a better way. And, he doesn't have to guard them anymore!

That is great! Nicer than having them in a drawer, now he can have it out to enjoy.
