Table runner-done

I just finished sewing the binding on the back. I decided to go with white binding because I will have a solid white look on the back which I will use as white snow for my lighted Christmas village this year. It came out good for using up orphan blocks.

It sure did turn out nicely. What a good idea to use the back for your Christmas decorations.

I really like this. What is the name of the two blocks please? BrendaK

PaperPrincess 08-10-2015 11:26 AM

Really like your quilting. A good lesson on why you should use the same selection of fabrics for all your sample blocks!

Tartan 08-10-2015 11:33 AM

The center block is the Disappearing Hourglass block that I did QB tutorial on. It was stuck in my orphan block box. I wanted to try Jenny's new Disappearing Pinwheel 5 block and I made two from the same fabric and put them on either side of the Disappearing Hourglass.

That came out great Tartan. I really like your approach of quilting this. I do prefer straight line quilting.

QuiltnNan 08-10-2015 02:13 PM

very pretty

QUILTNMO 08-10-2015 02:22 PM

very pretty nice pattern!!!

coopah 08-10-2015 02:31 PM

That is just the bee's knees! The straight line quilting really enhances the squares. (All my antique quilts from my great-granmother has straight stitching to emphasize the piecing, and it's my favorite look.) you made it look 'just right.'

Tartan where can I find your tutorial on the Disappearing Hourglass block?

Tartan 08-12-2015 05:18 AM

If you come to the main address for QB, there is a list of sections, Main, Pictures......Tutorials. My Disappearing Hourglass 12 and 1/2 is about the 9th down on the Tutorial list right now. Jenny has a YouTube tutorial on using layer cakes for Disappearing Hourglass but I wanted mine to end up at a finished block of 12-1/2 so I increased the original square size in my tutorial.

Very pretty runner! Thanks for sharing.

Great double use of orphan blocks. I'm not clever enough to make samples out of the same fabric, ha, ha, but may in the future, thanks to suggestion by PaperPrincess. Tartan: Love how you finished your quilting. Great choice.
