here are some of the table runners for my daughter's wedding shower.
I also made one with Debbie Mumm birdhouses and sunflowers. Didn't get a pic of it. The one on the table with a candle is MINE! The first quilted item I've had in the 5 years I've been doing this. |

I'm getting really stupid here. I know I picked the last pic.

Those are so cute. Wish I had been there.

The tables must have looked really colorful and pretty! I can't pick a favorite - they're all nice! Post pictures of the wedding!

Daughter's friend took pics of the tables. I don't have them yet. We had a tea party theme. We used linen tablecloths, tea pots with silk flowers in them for centerpieces setting on a crocheted doily. We had the church's real silverware and I brought all kinds of linen napkins. The favor was a real china teapcup with a pink peony on it. We filled them with herbal tea bags, tied with pink netting and a sage colored bow.
I bought linen tablecloths at yard and estate sales for the past year to get ready. I even had them on the food tables and brought a few of my tea pots from my collection to decorate with. The invitation read to wear your favorite party dress and a hat. I had quite a few hats that were given by a friend of hubby's from the guy's deceased wife. I made everyone wear one if they didn't come with one. We started by reading a bit of history of the tea party from the Victorian era and served tea party foods- finger sandwiches and lots of cookies for dessert. We had a good time. I realized I forgot to take pics! The reception is at a local mansion (referred to as a cottage as it was the summer home of a local coal and land baron). Since the place reminded me of my grandparents cottage, I was thrilled when she chose it for her outdoor wedding and the reception. Her gown is white (which Queen Victoria started) with pink edging. The girls are in pink and sage green. my dress is a dusty amethyst color, lace on top and flowy and loose. Tried to get her to let us wear hats for the wedding too, but she's not crazy about it. The guys are wearing tails though. |
Those are adorable! I have the same pattern! I love them! :D
|
Wow -- sounds like a very elegant event!! And the table runners are all just too cute!
|
Those are nice.
Giving me ideas and it's getting mighty crowded in my brain, it's already stuffed with ideas from the boards here :) :) |
Your table runners are gorgeous!!
I love the patterns & the fabrics you chose. Thank you so much for sharing with us. :D :D :D :D :D |
I love them!! The material with the wash hanging is really cute! I like seeing the same pattern, different fabric, and what a change it makes! What pattern is that?
:D |
Pretty! Love the pink ones.

It was posted here- in the links and resources.
I know it by heart now. 3 squares 9 1/2'' 4 squares 5" 1 square 8", cut into 4 on the diagonal. lay them out like above. sew. The one that has the "extra" strip on the ends made them too long to put on a 42" wide piece of fabric so I made the rest without that strip. I think they look better anyway. I put a piece of lightweight batting in between and then closed them "envelope" style, topsticthed around the edge and stitched in the ditch between the large squares. On the one on the table, you can see the indentations of where the stitch line would be. How's that? Clear as mud? The one that looks like laundry is actually bathing suits- bikinis and suits and boxers. The other blocks are Hawaiian shirts on the 5 in. blocks and tropical prints on the setting triangles. |
Thank you Barb!! Closing 'envelope style', is that sewing them inside out then turning them right side, through a small opening?
Thanks again! :D |
exactly.
|
Thank you!! :D

These are lovely!

Wow what a variety and each one is more beautiful then the next. I would say that the yournger girls had their age and lack of experience to blame for not thanking you but then my DIL is only 30 and she loves everything I have made for her and displays each thing in her home. I don't know what to say except what I said in the baby quilt thread. You made them because you like to quilt and gave each one with love. That should be enough. If some people don't seem to appreciate it that really is their problem. I do know that it hurts thoiugh. Be proud they are beautiful Barb  |
These are all beautiful! Great pattern too, thanks for sharing!
|
Very nice!!
|
I missed this thread somehow....:(
Great job girl!! |
Beautiful runners :D :D :D
|
What a wonderful idea to decorate tables for a shower!! You're such a creative mom! You did a lovely job with them all!
|
What a great ideal for the shower theme ! And the table runners are GREAT

Well, I was with you about that watermelon runner ... I really liked that one, and then I saw that lingerie runner, and that one stole my heart for sure!
Those are some real pretty table runners. I so enjoy all the pictures. Thank you for sharing. |

I really liked the way you gave us all the juicy details of the shower too. Sounded so elegant and lady like. Did ppl remember to hold their pinkies out, when they drank their tea? :D |
Actually, when I researched the tea party history- you didn't let the fingers extend beyond the handle- it needed to be tucked in. Amazing- someone along the way was a rebel and put their finger out!
I found some pretty tea pot fabric since then and am making a table runner for the bride. Her future hubby isn't crazy about it but I'll make it reverse to something solid for him. I refuse to use camo on anything I quilt. I hate camo. (My SonIL is a huge fan and they put GD in it- I only buy pink and purple for her- she is a girl!) |

This was my first project, a table runner.
|
Love it! Perfect 1st project- gives a great feeling of accomplishment.
|
Thanks a lot. It really was exciting to have actually put something together until.... I saw all the mistakes.
As my dear husband said this morning, "If somebody something perfect, they can go out and buy it." I like his attitude. I think my biggest problem now is that I am too eager to start something above my capability. My quilting teacher is a gem. She has the patience of Job and is all compassionate encouragement. |
Very nice first table runner. Love it.
|
I got a free pattern for table runners, and want to put them on end tables in my living room. I just painted it, and now on to decorating, woo hoo.
Barb, we love your stuff! :D Gladgrams, good for your hubby...really good, it looks great to me. You guys are so inspiring. :D |
I love all the table runners you made. How fun to have a spring tea with china no less! Did you girls make lots of dainty pastry to go with the tea? We have a tea house here in reno. It is such fun to eat there.

I love your signature RedGarnet222 :D
I feel like a kid in a candy store when I look at all the quilts that can be made. What does one do with them all? |
I love them
|
They are all beautiful, but I must say I LOVE the watermelons!!!
