Table Topper with Little Pieces

1 Attachment(s)

Sometimes it's fun to make something small and intricate. This table topper is only 16" square and the center block has 361 pieces (19x19 grid). The method I used was to fuse 1" blocks, raw edges touching, onto fusible interfacing. The instructions are from the book "Mini-Mosaic Quilts" by Paula Doyle. The author said to press the seams open, but I just clipped the seams instead. I used my new walking foot to cross-hatch. I'm happy with the results and love this method of using fusible interfacing. Please let me know if you have done any piecing this way too! - Nancy

I pieced this one that way: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t234304.html

But my squares aren't nearly as small as yours. I do love that process. Yours is wonderful.

I have two containers full of 1 inch squares cut out. May have to try your method for them. Love what you done with yours.

I have a piece of the 2" marked fusible imterfacing but not used it yet. i like your pattern. I just put together a lone star with the quiltsmart and had a lot of trouble with it but it looks good.

So let me see if I understand. I don't see raw edges in your quilt so once you fuse do you cut the fused squares into strips and then sew the strips together, then cut resulting resewn patchwork into strips going perpendicular to your seam lines and sew those together?

Your mini is so cute and how tiny is that cross hatch?
