This is my June Taylor matt that got rather nasty looking. The first time I put an old cutting matt on the back & thought that was awesome! Then the ironing side started getting really bad looking from various things I'd gotten on there besides my iron is really really hot & was scorching the top slightly so I decided to 'refurbish it" It's great to take to classes & to retreat when I go....

What a great fix. I have one that is starting to looks kinda bad. I'm going to try that too.

I have a June Taylor Quilter's Cut-N-Press. The cutting side is in reasonable shape, but the ironing side is a mess. It is scorched and has some stray fusible interfacing goo on it which sometimes makes it sticky. I would love to know how to go about re-covering it. Can you tell how you did it?

I bought the heat resistant fabric from JoAnn's, cut it 1-1/2" larger than the surface I was going to cover & then I used FabriTac glue to glue it down. I pulled the corners in nice & snug, then did the sides as I went. Wish I would have the sides a little tighter but I think it will be just fine.

Great idea.I have 2 cutting mats but they are still in good condition.But i will think of refurbishing them when they do get old and ratty looking. thanks for the idea.
