My granddaughter needed a teachers gift for her first grade teacher for the end of the year. She wanted to make it on her new sewing machine so I thought of making siggy's. It came out really cute. I let her pick a 12" block from my block book and then I surrounded it by 20 siggy's. I'm now making 3 more for graduation gifts this weekend. It makes up really fast.
Sorry about the cut off photo, I forgot to take a photo, so my daughter took one with her phone and sent it to me! Teachers Siggy Quilt by Olivia |
I ADORE the choice of fabric!! My DH teases me alllllll the time because the majority of my closet consists of black or white (with the occasional red or blue thrown in). I just laugh and tell him they are timeless colors and go with EVERYTHING :-)
Maybe I should do a black and white quilt . . . he would get a kick out of that! |
Nice idea.

Do a Black & White plus bright, that way you can say the Bright was for him!!!

ok everybody is there a list of all the abreviations that everyone uses, because I don't understand the talk, like what is a siggy and what is dd just a few
thanks |
What a great quilt idea. I'm sure her teacher will love it. Beautiful quilt.

A siggy is a signature block. Meant to be signed by someone in this case each person in her 1st grade class will sign it. 19 kids, I have 20 spaces. You make a siggy by taking a 3-1/2" block and sewing a 2-1/2" square on the diagonal to two corners. Trim off the extra triangle, press and cut to size. Super easy to chain piece. and if you are careful you can use the triangles you trim off too!
